The eye is the window to the brain. The mantis hyperspectral camera delivers data rich images of the retina to be analysed with AI for ophthalmological, neurological and cardiovascolar disease biomarkers

The eye moves fast. A snapshot imaging solution is crucial to freeze eye movement. Mantis hyperspectral imaging technology allows to register an image much faster than other methods. This removes the need for eye pupil dilating drops that causes discomfort for several hours.

The mantis camera is ideal for screening of the broad public: fast, non invasive (no eye drops required) and inexpensive

The Mantis's technology enables to provide images of high spectral quality. Thus making it more sensitive than its competitors

Mantis Photonics AB has developed, tested and patented a novel snapshot hyperspectral imaging technology for retinal scanning. With this camera, we can take images of the retina in 36 colours instead of only 3 primary colours of standard cameras. Such wealth of information allows the determination of the retina’s chemical composition and thus detect abnormalities caused by diseases before and more accurately than with standard fundus images.
Hyperspectral imaging technology is already by skin doctors and surgeons. We make this imaging technique available to examine the back of the eye with artificial intelligence which opens the way to diagnosing your general health.

We have proven our hyperspectral camera works with two clinical research prototypes which have imaged the eyes of more than 100 patients.
We presented the first scientific results at a major conference in Amsterdam and in two scientific articles.
We have shown the camera’s potential and are raising funds to develop Machine learning models for health screening and early detection of ophthalmologic, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. We’ll prevent blindness and heart diseases with a fast, easy-to-use, non-invasive tool.

Our technology is easy to use and comfortable for the patient so can be used for health screening at primary care centres.
To get there, we first want to build a series of research devices to develop our product further with several universities interested in this revolutionary technology.

The goal of this project is to further the development of the proven hyperspectral imaging concept and the implementation of this technology into a user-friendly device.  We are developing a standalone device that does not require a specialist to operate

To achieve this goal, we have built a strong founders team with knowledge in business, engineering, artificial intelligence and photonics. This is completed by a board with experience in ophthalmology, regulatory questions, law and business.

EXIT STRATEGY

Mantis Photonics is an early stage company. We have developed, patented and tested the core technology and proven this imaging modality is suitable for retinal imaging. We have published our first results on extracting new and previously unavailable information from these images.

A seed investment will help us commercialize the technology by expanding our team and developing research devices. Medical experts have already expressed interest in collaborating with us. This technical and scientific development will allow us to raise a new round at a much higher valuation (about €10M) where shares will be more than three times as expensive for developing a commercial device. This will allow the company to grow to a the industrialisation phase ‘Series B’ in 2026, where professional investment funds invest the funds to build a production facility and a distribution and marketing infrastructure.

This trajectory is projected to increase the value of your investment with a factor of 10 to 12 by 2027 as we have, with the help of our business coaches, laid out a road to market with an Nordic NASDAQ IPO or potential acquisition in 5 years time. By investing early in this trajectory, you can optimally profit from the value creation during this journey.

In Capital Cell's own words

With a globally aging population and a rising demand for preventive healthcare, Mantis Photonics is well-positioned to address a crucial market need: early disease detection in a quick, non-invasive, and straightforward manner.

The medical device developed by Mantis Photonics focuses on the retina, a unique part of the body essential for vision, integrated into the central nervous system, and the sole location where blood vessels are directly accessible. In this context, the retina can be considered a window to health and plays a pivotal role in preventive care.

Mantis Photonics’ innovative technology is non-invasive for patients and can be employed in primary care centers. This technology provides substantial information enabling the determination of the chemical composition of the retina and the detection of anomalies caused by various diseases more precisely and at an earlier stage than conventional retinography techniques.

The use of artificial intelligence to analyze these retina scans opens the possibility of diagnosing a wide range of diseases, including ophthalmic, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative conditions. Their tool has the potential to prevent blindness and detect heart diseases in their early stages.

The Mantis Photonics team comprises professionals with expertise in business, engineering, artificial intelligence, and photonics. Additionally, they are backed by an advisory board with knowledge in ophthalmology, regulatory affairs, law, and business.

Located in Lund, Sweden, Mantis Photonics benefits from an ideal environment for technological and scientific development, as well as for the growth of your investment. Furthermore, the presence of the Nordic NASDAQ facilitates the potential for a future IPO for companies of this kind.
