AWAKE is a real alternative to wheelchairs for 20 million people disabled by stroke worldwide.

AWAKE is 80% cheaper and 60% lighter than any other robotic solution on the market.

AWAKE has accumulated more than 200 hours of indoor and outdoor testing, which have validated the main design hypotheses.

ROBOPEDICS offers a unique investment opportunity, combining high social impact with €500 million in turnover and 20% EBITDA projected in 2031.

ROBOPEDICS was created with the aim of improving the quality of life and health of millions of people around the world with severe and chronic disabilities caused by a stroke who must remain in a wheelchair for life.

Our mission is to enable them to stand and walk again, alleviating the numerous health problems and disorders associated with life in a wheelchair, and empowering them to regain some of their independence.

This commitment is rooted in a personal experience. In 2015, the father of one of the founders suffered a severe stroke that left him in a wheelchair for life. This experience inspired the creation of ROBOPEDICS.

To this end, ROBOPEDICS has developed AWAKE , the first product in a new category called ADVANCED BIONIC WALKING SYSTEMS . Designed as a true alternative to the wheelchair, this innovative device, together with a comprehensive ecosystem of affordable services and financing conditions, enables people with severe disabilities to walk daily, independently and without medical supervision, in their usual environment.

With AWAKE, we don’t just create technology: we bring hope and dignity back to those who need it most, as well as to their loved ones.

AWAKE: a disruptive solution

AWAKE’s unique technology is specifically designed for people with paralysis or weakness on one side of their body due to stroke, allowing them to walk robotically using only the affected leg . This approach represents a revolutionary advance over existing exoskeletons, originally developed for spinal cord injuries and requiring robotic support for both legs.

Thanks to this technology and many other innovations, AWAKE is 80% more economical and 60% lighter than any other solution available on the market.

To date, AWAKE has accumulated more than 200 hours of pilot testing conducted indoors and outdoors, which has allowed the validation of the main objectives of functionality and cost.

Social impact and also profitability

Stroke is the third leading cause of disability worldwide, leaving more than 20 million people in wheelchairs worldwide.

ROBOPEDICS was born with the clear aim of providing a global solution and also of evolving its technology towards other uses, such as the treatment of other ailments, rehabilitation, and assistance to elderly people in their daily life activities. This expands its target market to hundreds of millions of users .

Furthermore, its disruptive business model, based on direct sales to end users, allows forecast sales of more than 500 million euros with 19% EBITDA in the European Union alone by 2031.

Team and strategic partners

ROBOPEDICS has a very senior team made up of founders and advisors with extensive experience in positions of responsibility in multinational companies and some of the main hospitals in Spain. This team is complemented by young, competent and motivated profiles, as well as top-level strategic partners, such as:

  • Mondragon Corporation (main investor and industrial partner)
  • Biomechanics Institute of Valencia (scientific partner)
  • Hospitals such as Clínic , Parc Salut Mar and Germans Trias i Pujol (partners in clinical research)
  • Clarke Modet (intellectual property advisor)
  • Tecno-med Engineers (regulatory advisor)

Thanks to this combination of talent and strategic alliances, ROBOPEDICS covers all project needs: technological, regulatory, medical, intellectual property, business development, operational and strategic.

Why is Capital Cell investing in this company?

Engineer Iván Martínez created the first prototype of AWAKE, an advanced bionic walking system, inspired by the needs of his father, a stroke survivor. His experience revealed a clear lack of accessible and practical solutions for those facing partial paralysis after a stroke, one of the main causes of disability in the world. AWAKE is the first device designed specifically for home use, allowing patients to walk independently and without medical supervision. Its unique design robotizes only the affected leg, making it 80% cheaper and 60% lighter than current alternatives, such as exoskeletons, which are often expensive and impractical for daily use. The utility of AWAKE has been demonstrated in eight pilot studies conducted in hospitals and home environments with patients of different levels of disability. In addition, the technology is protected by a pending European patent. Robopedics is now seeking funding to obtain regulatory certification as a Class IIa medical device and prepare for the commercial launch of AWAKE. Due to its clear social impact proposal and its innovative business model, we believe that Robopedics has a high potential for profitability and transformation in the lives of millions of people.

Main risks

The development of AWAKE presents several significant challenges. Robopedics must complete regulatory certification as a medical device, ensure that the final product is functional and accessible to users, and scale its production efficiently. In addition, its success will depend on positioning it as an attractive solution compared to existing alternatives on the market.
